Climate Justice Alliance

The Climate Justice Alliance (CJA) is a coalition of more than 70 urban and rural front-line communities, organizations, and supporting networks in the climate justice movement. Founded in 2013, CJA focuses on addressing the social, racial, economic, and environmental justice issues related to climate change. The alliance is rooted in the cultural wisdom of Indigenous, African American, Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander, and working-class white communities throughout the United States.

Major Programs:

1. Just Transition: CJA promotes a vision-led, unifying, and place-based set of principles, processes, and practices that build economic and political power to shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative economy.
2. Energy Democracy: The alliance works to ensure that communities have control over their energy sources, advocating for renewable and community-owned energy solutions.
3. Food Sovereignty: CJA supports local food systems that are ecologically sound, culturally appropriate, and community-controlled, aiming to reduce dependence on industrial agriculture.
4. Our Power Campaign: This initiative focuses on building local alternatives that center traditional ecological and cultural knowledge, creating pathways for a regenerative future.
5. Reinvest in Our Power: CJA encourages divestment from extractive industries and reinvestment in community-led solutions that promote sustainability and resilience.
