Flower Turbines turns to crowd to fund small-scale wind

Flower Turbines, a company specializing in small-scale wind energy solutions, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on StartEngine, inviting public investment to support its innovative turbines.

The company aims to raise up to $14.49 million, with funds allocated for marketing, engineering, research and development, manufacturing, and scaling operations in the U.S. and Europe.

Flower Turbines’ unique “cluster effect” design allows turbines to enhance each other’s performance when placed close together, potentially increasing efficiency by 20 percent to 50 percent.

The company has received several accolades, including being named among the top 10 startups out of 4,500 evaluated and winning the Dutch government sustainability award twice.

Investors can participate in this opportunity through StartEngine, with a minimum investment requirement of $600.

Flower Turbines has operations in Lubbock, Texas. Their U.S. headquarters, established in 2021, is located at 2601 SE Loop 289 Ste. 500, Lubbock, TX 79404. This facility serves as their operational and manufacturing hub for North America, focusing on the production of their small vertical axis wind turbines.

The company chose Lubbock for its high wind conditions, a strong manufacturing base, and the opportunities provided by Texas Tech University, which offers doctoral degrees in wind energy. Flower Turbines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Texas Tech’s Global Laboratory for Energy Asset Management and Manufacturing (GLEAMM) program to research the benefits of using wind energy in collaboration with other renewable energies.

In addition to their U.S. operations, Flower Turbines has a presence in Europe, with an office established in 2019 in Zoetermeer, Netherlands, serving EU customers.
